Return to the Mountain of Madness – Shoggoth Stirring

In the depths beneath the accursed monolith, where no sane mind should wander, the 2130 Miskatonic follow-up expedition pierced too far, far beyond the frozen walls, past the ancient warnings of the Elder glyphs, and into the living arteries of a city not built by human hands.
There, in the cavernous dark, they woke it.

A Shoggoth shapeless, deathless, and infinitely adaptive stirred from its aeon-long slumber, answering the tremors of human technology with a terrible, sentient hunger. As the colossal organism began to reshape the very geometry of the ruins, the crew launched a desperate escape, their craft igniting the icy haze with frantic engine fire.

Though they survived… the creature did, too.
And now that it has tasted the vibrations of modern machines, the fate of the Earth, indeed, of all thinking species, hangs precariously on the edge of awakening terror.

This artwork continues the sci-fi reinterpretation of Lovecraft’s cosmic horror, capturing the moment of impossible flight against the incomprehensible mass rising behind them. Floating debris, collapsing alien stone, and the blinding beams of extraction illuminate a scene where survival is temporary… and doom is certain.
